Hello All!! Hope you all doing well and today we have something too good and juicy to share with you all. As we told earlier it was during Covid-19 I got more time to spend in our farm and that's when we Planned and Planted so many fruit bearing trees. Years back they were just a small sampling and to our surprise after 4-5 years they all started blooming and fruiting. So magical to admire how Nature Works on itself. Isn't it?! Okay then without any further delay let's get Started with today's episode on Cashew Fruits!
This year, our farm has been blessed with an abundant cashew fruit harvest! 🍎✨ Known to many as the cashew apple, this vibrant fruit is often overlooked while the nut takes the spotlight. Hope you too remember in Tamil, people use it sarcastically to describe someone or something that looks impressive on the outside but doesn’t have much inside or when they jump in to do things without proper idea on it! right 😆 But in truth, cashew fruit benefits are just as remarkable.
🍎 Cashew Fruit Benefits for Health
Freshly harvested cashew apples are a true gift from nature. They are:
📍Rich in Vitamin C – Boosts immunity and keeps skin glowing.
📍High in Antioxidants – Protects against free radicals and supports overall health.
📍A Natural Digestive Aid – The fiber in cashew fruit helps digestion.
📍Refreshing & Juicy – Perfect for cashew apple juice and jams.
Generally we have a mind set that cashew fruits can be grown only in particular places and its not possible to grow that easily in our homes. If you ask me, whether this is true? I would say that it may be partially true but it doesn't mean that we cannot grow cashew fruit tree in our homes. If that is completely true that how could we get this abundance cashew fruit harvest? Right!😇
🌾 Where is Cashew Cultivated in Tamil Nadu?
Cashew is an important crop in several Tamil Nadu districts. The major cultivation areas include:
📍Ariyalur📍Cuddalore 📍Pudukkottai & Sivagangai📍Theni📍Villupuram
These regions provide the perfect environment for cashew cultivation, making Tamil Nadu a key contributor to India’s cashew industry.
🌤️ Climatic Conditions for Cashew Cultivation
Cashew trees love the tropics, and Tamil Nadu offers just the right setting. 🔍Temperature: Ideal range is 24°C–28°C, tolerating up to 38°C. 🔍Rainfall: Needs 1000–2000 mm annually, but a dry spell of 3–4 months is essential for flowering. 🔍Sunlight: Thrives in full sunlight; shade reduces productivity. 🔍Soil: Grows well in sandy or loamy soils that drain quickly.
This combination of climate and soil is what makes Tamil Nadu’s cashew fruit and nut production so successful.
